Hi! I am Tristan Arostegui, a New York-based media composer.
My film scores include Every Other Kid (1st-Place NYU King Awards film), Dead Tongues (winner of Best Feature at the HP Lovecraft Film Festival), Attribution Error (Film Shortage short psychological drama), and Inkblack, an upcoming horror series.
I have worked in film music departments, most recently as an assistant for composer Erik Friedlander on his psychological horror score for Baby Ruby.
My music portfolio is diverse, but most of my compositions blur the line between traditional instrumentation and the ever-evolving digital realm to construct distinctive sound worlds. My work on the rap musical Every Other Kid was recognized by the First Run Film Festival with the award for Best Original Score.
I have also written classical concert works, experimental electronic pieces, and songs for my band, Gregular. I have worked as an audio engineer, conductor, orchestrator, producer, and performer for countless more projects and have also taught screen scoring students at New York University.
I received my Masters of Music in Music Composition from New York University’s Screen Scoring program, where I studied with Mark Suozzo, Ariel Marx, and Chris Hajian. I received my Bachelors of Music in Music Composition from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where I studied with Jay Alan Yim, Alex Mincek, Chris Mercer and Juan Campoverde. Prior to Northwestern, I studied with Daniel Wood at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I am also an active member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists.
